1) Write Everyday in 2014.
One of my goals in 2013 was to write more. It went pretty horribly. I decided for 2014 I would make the stakes a little higher. I plan to do this in a number of ways. I want to write in my journal more. Send more snail mail. Blog a lot more. I want to both improve my writing skills and better document my life. Included in this will also be writing grants and doing research papers. Yay grad school and being a social worker!
2) Read (at least) 2 books a month.
Another 2013 goal that did not really work out, that I thought maybe I should heighten the stakes on. Compared to how much I read when I was younger, like even in high school and early college, 2 books does not seem like a lot. I know with grad school though it would be tough to read as much as I used to. I mostly am making this goal to keep me reading instead of watching too much Netflix or spending too much time on social media...
3) Cut back social media usage
Self explanatory. Almost all of us use it way too much. I did a social media fast in December. I read like 3 books and had actual conversations with SO MANY people. It was awesome. Let's keep up the good work.
4) Invest time in improving friendships that I want to keep
I know a lot of really great awesome people. I need to put a lot more effort in to being a friend to these people. If you want to have a friend, be a friend. Growing up I had an incredible group of friends who were an amazing support system to me. Several of these people I still consider my best friends. I always whine and complain that I cannot find that since moving to Oklahoma. That is probably partially true, I grew up with those people. That was a special kind of bond. It is also true, though, that I could try a lot harder in many of my friendships here to deepen them and make them as great as those friendships were and are. I meet with a great group of ladies every other week to talk about life and the Lord. They are three of my best friends. I can absolutely, positively put in more effort to make those relationships better and do things to be a better friend to them.
